What we collect

RateTheKit is designed to work without accounts or personal data. When you rate a kit, we store an anonymous score (a number), the kit identifier, the competition, and a randomly generated session ID from your browser's localStorage. We do not store your name, IP address, or any other identifying information alongside your ratings.

If you sign up for kit rating updates via the newsletter form, we store your email address in our Supabase database. We do not share it with third parties or use it for advertising.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how people use the site — which pages are visited, how long sessions last, and where traffic comes from. GA4 uses cookies and may collect your approximate location and device type. You can opt out using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Supabase

Kit ratings are stored in a Supabase (PostgreSQL) database. Ratings are anonymous — no name, email or IP is stored alongside a kit score. Email addresses from newsletter signups are stored separately and are never exposed publicly or used for advertising.

Amazon Associates

RateTheKit participates in the Amazon Associates Programme. When you click a "Buy this kit" link and make a purchase on Amazon, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Amazon has its own privacy policy covering purchases made on their platform.

Cookies

We use localStorage (not cookies) to remember your ratings between visits. Google Analytics uses cookies as described above. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels beyond GA4.

Your data

If you submitted an email address via the newsletter form and would like it removed, contact us via the TikTok account @ratethekit26 and we will delete it from the database.

Changes

We may update this policy as the site develops. The date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision.
